Rookie's History

Started in 1978 by Ron Snaza, the team has served primarily Eastside St. Paul kids during that time. Up until recent years the team was made up primarily of Johnson, Harding and Hill-Murray players. Numerous former Rookie players went on to have stellar careers at all levels of College softball. Presently two former Rookie players are on the Roster for the University of Minnesota---Colleen Conway and Bethany Wolvington. The Rookies have been a State and Regional power for most of the years on their existance. They have attended at least 20 National Tournaments during their history. Although the make up of the team has changed somewhat in recent years it has been true to it's roots and you still find several St. Paul players on the roster. The program has always kept playing fees low to encourage urban players. The team has two major fund-raisers anually a Dinner and the Rookies/Harding Area Tournament. In addition, this year they will host the 18-Under St. Paul Metro/Tri-County League and Elite League Tournaments. And like any program of this nature the Rookies always welcome donations(we are a 501c organization).
